Canton, Ohio’s own rap rockstar has dropped his second mixtape of the year and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for.
For those who may be unfamiliar, Trippie Redd has been labelled “the next rockstar of rap.” With the makings of a true star, Trippie’s first mixtape from earlier this year, A Love Letter To You, catapulted Trippie into the public sphere. Trippie’s breakout hit by far was “Love Scars” which garnered million of YouTube views and SoundCloud streams. Speaking of SoundCloud, the popular streaming service helped bring Trippie’s music to prominence.
With 14 tracks, A Love Letter To You 2 features UnoTheActivsit, Bali Baby, Khalil, Cydnee with a C. Fan favorites include singles such as “Bust Down,” “In Too Deep” and “Deadman’s Wonderland.” Trippie’s angsty screamo-esque vocals paired with synthy hip hop beats is what’s made him standout from peers such as Lil Uzi. Trippie’s heart-wrenching lyrics have a relatable quality that’s brought his talents to the forefront.
Citing Marilyn Manson, Lil Wayne and K-pop as influences, Trippies sound is truly unlike any other and his subject matter varies from love, lust and pain to spirituality.
Trippie held his mixtape listening party in at Kinfolk in New York leading up to an afterparty at Output. Trippie hung out with fans and listeners with what was his first mixtape listening ever.
