Drake and The Chainsmokers tie the all-time record for the most nominations in a single year!
This year the 2017 Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast LIVE from the T-Mobile Arena on Sunday, May 21st at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT on ABC. ABC and Dick Clark productions released the nominees for this year this week, honoring the year’s successful artists in 52 categories of music.
22. Yes, that’s how many nominations Drake and The Chainsmokers got. They are both nominees for the Top Hot 100 this year alongside many other categories. The nominations this year include a cross section of artists with many seeing more than ever. This year’s nominees include Drake, the Chainsmokers, Rihanna, Adele, Justin Bieber, Major Lazer, Nicky Jam, Twenty One Pilots, Luke Bryan and many more. This year, Rihanna received the fourth most nominations, 14 of them! Including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and a double nomination for Top R&B song.
The Billboard Music Award nominees are based on fan interactions with the music. This includes album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, touring and social engagement. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 18, 2016 through March 16, 2017. These measurements are tracked year round by Billboard and its data partners.
