8. Rian Johnson – They’ve announced that Rian Johnson will be writing and directing Episode VIII. This is an intriguing, exciting choice. Johnson has directed the cult-classic Brick as well as the excellent 2012 sci-fi film Looper and several of the greatest episodes of Breaking Bad. None of that screams Star Wars, but I am very excited to see what he can bring to the franchise.
