On Thursday May 12th Michael Strahan and Patrick Dempsey joined other notables and invited guests for a VIP preview of the Time Crafters Luxury Watch Show at the Park Avenue Armory.
Actor and race car driver Patrick Dempsey (aka Dr. McDreamy) set up camp at the Tag Heuer booth – the luxury accessories company for which Dempsey is a brand ambassador. And on the eve of his last show on Live with Kelly and Michael, Strahan kept to himself and his team while he took a spin around the show admiring the brands and their latest collections.
The Time Crafters show’s slogan is “Every Watch Has a Story”
We chatted with Gary Cruz, the Technical Trainer of Audemars Piguet, who was busy taking a part a 280-piece watch so guests could get an inside look into the workings of a luxury watch. His watch story is actually a love story. Cruz met his wife when she first showed an interest in diamonds and pearls. Cruz worked hard to put her through Gemology school. One day she came home and told her Cruz about the study of watches and thought it was something he would be interested in. He decided to check it out for fun, but quickly realized his passion and talent for handling luxury watches. He now works for one of the hottest brands in the business known for their Art Basel partnerships, has two children and is about to celebrate 30 years with the woman responsible for his career as a time crafter.
During the VIP preview, guests nibbled on really interesting bites such as black bean and quinoa “meatballs”, mushroom risotto balls, steak, and shrimp while sipping champagne and margaritas thanks to Roca Patron.
The Time Crafters show lasted over the course of the weekend and watch collectors and enthusiasts alike were in attendance to share their passion for watches through education, workshops, and viewing the latest collections from some of the biggest brands in luxury watches.
Despite the show largely highlighting the latest trends in luxury watches, Tiffany and Co. brought us back in time (pun intended) with a display of the actual watch US President Franklin D. Roosevelt wore at the historic Yalta conference – reminding us that watches really do tell a story.
