New York son Your Old Droog, has returned with a video for his new track “Forty Deuce”.
Droog’s budding legacy is incredible to say the least. No other artist has dropped their debut tape and been accused of being Nas under an alias. It marks something truly special in an emcee if they’re unbiasedly assumed to be one of the greatest Hip Hop artists to have walked the earth.
Last year, along with a number of loosies, Droog dropped the Have a Nice Day EP. It gave fans an image of an emcee comfortable with his position in the music industry, and ready to hone his craft to perfection without regard for outside opinion. It’s an ideology that’s matured compared to what he expressed to Rosenberg in 2014. Then, fans heard an artist hungry and snapping at any opportunity handed him. Now, we have a grown emcee with a reputation that needs no elevation. Droog’s already gone down as New York’s quintessential emcee for the present day, and he can only get better.
This new track, “Forty Deuce” is fun track exploring the steez of New Yorkians’ least favorite thing about their city, that is Times Square. From Elmo trying to hustle you, to dirty water dogs, and useless bike taxis Droog encapsulates the warts that cover 42nd street.
