On Tuesday July 23rd, Atlantic Records held a listening for YBN Cordae and his much anticipated debut album The Lost Boy.
The listening was held at Lightbox in Manhattan. A lot of people came to support Cordae on his debut project and some of these people included female artist Rico Nasty, BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester and Rob Markman from Genius, just to name a few.
YBN Cordae had a lot of energy for his listening since he was excited for us to hear his debut album that he’s been working on for a while. He also performed “RNP” from his new album with Anderson .Paak on Jimmy Fallon before arriving to his listening so he was in great spirits. Cordae addressed the crowd by saying how thankful he was for everyone’s support and how much time and effort went into his first body of work. Cordae didn’t do much talking after that and just wanted everyone to hear the music and see how we liked the album and hear our opinions. While he was playing the album he was walking around and thanking everyone individually for attending and taking photos and hearing everyone’s thoughts on his project. The early stand out tracks from the album included, “Have Mercy” which was released prior to the album, “Bad Idea” and “RNP”.
The theme of the listening matched The Lost Boy theme since Atlantic gave out survival kits going with the lost and found theme. The survival kit included a compass and bandana with The Lost Boy album cover design on it. There was also album inspired merchandise that was given to everyone who attended. The Lost Boy is available now.
