The Yajun show showcased a series of black and white pieces that blurred the lines Between traditional clothing and avant-garde silhouettes with the use of voluminous puffer jackets, elongated shirts, oversized jackets and heavily gathered sleeves. Basic items were elevated with rebellious touches created through tonal fabric overlays and texture.
Asymmetry was a predominant feature within Yajun’s collection with pieces consisting of cut out overlapping details. Attention was drawn to feminine waistlines to an otherwise androgynous collection through the use of waist belts around oversized items. The collection had a nostalgic aspect associated with it, connecting the audience with the ’90s grunge scene through patient leather and layering of black and white that immediately shifted attention to this concept.
The highpoint of the collection was the signature puffer coat that effortlessly draped the model, Yajun’s puffer coats have proved to be a success in the past with stylists and celebrities using the piece for both editorials and award shows. This season we have seen the iconic piece re-created to suit the season and incorporating more ‘edge’.
