We had the opportunity to hang out with Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger at the season premier of her show at the Crosby Hotel, presented by WeTV. We attended a screening and afterparty this past week at the Crosby Hotel in Soho.
Million Dollar Matchmaker is now in its 5th season and has garnered a considerable following after Stanger’s demonstrated her skill as a third-generation matchmaker and a all-around fun person to watch. She’s brutally honest but caring, wanting only the best for her lovelorn clients. The premier episode involved a human “Ken doll” and Claudia, a woman who tends to fall for guys physically a little too quickly. But we won’t spoil what happens.
After the screening, Patti and The View host Michelle Collins had a hilarious conversation, discussing everything from the show to fashions to tinder. Check out the highlights below and tune into Million Dollar Matchmaker, Friday at 10pm eastern on WeTV.
Millionaire Matchmaker on finding men:
“Where theres meat, there’s men,” Stanger advises. “The key is to flirt. Do the five second flirt. Get his attention by smiling for five seconds then look away. He’ll come to you and buy the drink and he’s your guy… maybe he’s passive aggressive, the lazy lion, which means he wants you to do all the work. You only go for the aggressive ones that come to you.”
On the new season:
“We did celebrities for a whole season, we did regular millionaires for a season, this season we did a mix of the two. We gave everyone something. The people who like the crazy regular millionaires, we brought those back. There are two throwouts; Sonia and Derek. Then we have celebrities like Farrah Abraham which is… can she be fixed? The crying virgin from The Bachelorette. Farrah is in the second episode. And we close out with Robin Kassner, a fan favorite.”
Kissing on the first date:
“No sex, ever. Ever. When you’re extremely sexual, I have to dial you back. When you’re nonsexual, like the virgin, I almost wish she got… well, watch the show. I gotta to shake the tree, we only have seven days to make magic, so I’m going against the person’s natural inclination because they don’t get love with their natural inclination.”
