We have all heard the motivational quotes surrounding waking up early in the morning , such as βThe early bird gets the wormβ and βEarly to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.β We tend to dismiss this as holding no truth, but, Patrick Frostβs fitness class in Soho on Sunday proved otherwise.
This immersive lab experience included an hour long warm-up and an intensive workout, followed by an in depth Q&A regarding nutrition and what effects certain substances have on our body. This was a wholesome lab due to the wide range of fitness drills that were practiced.
From burpees to sprinting to pushing 40 pound weights across the turf, everyoneβs muscles were definitely burning up! Despite it being extremely challenging, slightly intimidating and tiring, the sense of teamwork and camaraderie in the studio was prominent.
As we all cheered for the victory of the other, we also internally cheered for our own body, to push through to the finish line. Mr Frostβs class was a great way to spend a (randomly) chilly morning. His knowledge of fitness was expansive. This included explaining the effects certain poses have on mental and physical growth, thus proving to be not only impressive but very useful information.
Patrick allowed for each individual to be flexible in how they executed the exercise. Enabling any sort of modification they wished to make that best suited them. This motivated me to challenge myself further.
Last but not least, nutrition specialist, Dr. Jaime Schehr held a Q&A session. After addressing general concerns and misconceptions regarding health, she addressed a variety of concerns people expressed. Overall, she was able to give personal insight and professional recommendations.
