The first trailer for War Dogs was released on Mar. 25 starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.
Coming from the director of Hangover, Todd Phillips, the film is a comedic look at a true story. Hill and Teller play two 20-somethings who make enormous amounts of money through exploiting a government initiative where they bid on U.S. Military contracts during the Iraq War.
The duo start to get in some trouble when they take a $300 million deal to arm the Afghan Military. This forces them to deal with several shady characters beyond the U.S. Government. The movie is set to hit theaters on August 19. You can watch the trailer below to see the duo enjoying the high life despite being in over their heads.
The film also stars Hangover’s Bradley Cooper and Ana de Armas from Knock Knock. Phillips reunited with other Hangover contributors including director of photography Lawrence Sher, production designer Bill Brzeski and editor Jeff Groth.
Phillips, Stephen Chin and Jason Smilovic wrote the screenplay for the film based on the Rolling Stone article “Arms and The Dudes” for 2011. As the trailer explains the term war dogs refers to those who make money from wars without being directly involved or in the line of danger.
