Reprising her role of Shante Smith in the 2001 cult classic movie ‘Two Can Play That Game,” Vivica A. Fox will star in the new play adaptation which will tour around the nation.
Fox, who is best known for her roles in Independence Day, Empire, Days of Our Lives, Out All Night, and Kill Bill, will be delighting theatre audiences by bringing back a role she knows very well.
“Audiences across the country will be able to relive what made this movie unforgettable with the casting of Vivica A. Fox,” said the play’s writer, director, and producer Je’Caryous Johnson. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her stamp of approval and vote of confidence in bringing such a beloved and fun tale back to life with her leading the way like she did originally.”
Holding true to the original story, the play follows Shante Smith, a relationship guru who catches her boyfriend Keith cheating with his co-worker. Since “two can play that game,” she decides to get even in this hilarious battle of the sexes. In a similar style to the movie, the play will oftentimes break the fourth wall and engage with the audience.
“Bringing ‘Two Can Play That Game’ to the stage is going to be epic,” Fox said. “I want fans to laugh and cry and high five and also learn some new dating rules when they come to see it.”
The show’s tour kicks off on October 13 in Memphis, Tennessee, and will visit major US cities such as Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Washington, D.C. To learn more about the show and purchase tickets, click here.
