With the height of the SAG strike everyone is not sure where Hollywood stands, but prior to the strike I got a chance to sit down with the star of BET+ thriller “Deadly Entanglement”, Vanessa Simmons. Vanessa is the child of hip hop legend Joseph Simmons aka Rev Run and is playing the role of Tammy, an r&b singer in the “Deadly Entanglement”
She brought a lot of what she remembers from how she grew up in the hip hop and r&b world into the role.
Although, being an r&b singer can many times be portrayed as all glitz and glamor. In Tammy’s case her life was a bit different in the “Deadly Entanglement”. Tammy deals with a scary reality of her partner’s past. Without a full spoiler, just anticipate a rollercoaster of emotions between Tammy and Deidre, played by the incomparable Monica Calhoun. Vanessa said it was amazing to get a chance to work alongside Monica. After watching this film I understand why. They both did an incredible job feeding off each other’s characters, which made it such a thrill to watch.
As you watch “Deadly Entanglement” just keep in mind that not everything is what it seems, but one thing for sure is that you will be on the edge of your seat. “Deadly Entanglement” is now playing via BET+.
