The Grammy Awards may be music’s biggest night but the parties go on all weekend.
Universal Music Group hosted a number of star studded events starting with Lucian Grainge’s Artist Showcase on Sunday February 14th at The Theater in the Ace Hotel, just steps away from the Staples Center. The showcase was presented by American Airlines and Citi and gave industry insiders a highly coveted performance by the label’s hottest buzz worthy artists including Gammy nominees Sam Hunt, Chris Stapleton and The Weeknd; along with Alessia Cara, Demi Lovato, DNCE (Joe Jonas), Halsey, Jack Garratt, The Strumbellas, Thomas Rhett, and Troye Sivan.
Enjoying the show were UMG UMG Chairman & CEO Lucian Grainge CBE; Jordan Smith and Tori Kelly.
For the showcase, Universal teamed up with American Airlines who asked artists to show support for their Miles for Kids in Need program by signing an American Airlines guitar. For every signature, 10,000 miles were donated. Miles were doubled for artists who played the guitar and tripled for artists who tweeted a photo with the guitar. Miles for Kids in Need supports various organizations, including St. Jude, Make a Wish and the Jimmy Fund. Citi is a long-time supporter of Musicians On Call, an organization that delivers the healing power of music from live and recorded music to patients in healthcare facilities. In support of the organization, a large screen print by Korean artist Yoon Hyup was signed by all artists attending the Showcase and donated to Musicians on Call to auction off.
