Last week Uniqlo 5th Avenue was a Nintendo gamer’s paradise.
The 5th Avenue NYC flagship location hosted a launch party last Thursday to celebrate its Nintendo UT Grand Prix 2017 Collaboration. The location’s interior was transformed into the beloved “World 1-1” which is the first level of the classic 1985 Super Mario Bros. game. With the pixelated graphics of World 1-1 like the green pipes, floating bricks, copper coins and clouds plastered on the walls and tiles, it literally felt like we traveled through time and entered the golden era of Nintendo. The new collection also includes classic Nintendo graphics and characters like Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Mario.
The nostalgic vibes carried on as guests played pinball games and claw machines with signature Nintendo plush prizes. In addition to the old school memorabilia, Uniqlo also offered more modern gaming like Nintendo Switch and 3DS areas. DJ Whuteva was spinning tunes through the night and even the evening’s Hors d’oeuvre was startlingly on point as servers handed out small cups of Doritos for to guests to snack on while gaming. Other highlights from the evening included notable guest, Victoria Secret Supermodel Chanel Iman.
Guests received shirts from the new collection as parting gifts as well as signature Uniqlo x Nintendo pins and had access to purchase any of the collection prior to its official release the following day.
