This week’s episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live set an emotional landmark as one of the best episodes of the season and one of the greatest in the franchise, as I stated on my preview of the show last month.

Although Rick Grimes and Michonne reunited at the end of the first episode and talked about CRM’s runnings, it is here on this episode where the real reunion happens. Rick and Michonne’s different viewpoints clash as he tells her he has to stay at CRM and she tries to convince him to leave. Michonne made it a point that she does not like the current Rick Grimes in the state he is in and even told him the story of the incident that led to her X scar.

There will not be a Walking Dead episode without zombies and action. Rick and Michonne had to escape the building that they entered as the CRM found their location. The CRM helicopter launched an airstrike at the building which forced them two to evacuate. I find it amusing that these two had sex while the building was crumbling down. Also, they had to clear walkers on their path down. I can let the former slide since this episode was written beautifully.

Rick’s speech about losing Michonne perfectly represents my feelings towards the show. Sending Michonne away and believing she’s alive is easier than being with her and potentially witnessing her death. The fact that Rick has another son gives him more motivation to return to Alexandra. Also, bonus points for Rick and Michonne for discovering an early hybrid electric vehicle, as they were just starting to roll out in real life back in 2010.

Danai Gurira wrote this episode. As a result, Danai put her heart and soul into every line, while Andrew Lincoln matched Danai’s intensity and passion with his own. Instead of following the usual Walking Narrative, which is mainly filled with bullet points of subtext, the actors chose to highlight their unique skills and best talents.

There was an exceptional and unforgettable performance by the two actors, and it left a lasting impression on everyone who witnessed it, including critics and fans alike. My favorite thing about the episode was its honesty and raw emotion. Throughout their scenes, I was completely captivated, and it was an experience that I will never forget.

Moving on to The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the fourth episode of the show provides viewers with a much clearer and more detailed explanation of why AMC chose the particular subtitle for this spinoff.

The episode is truly captivating and delivers a significant message that is worth paying attention to. It’s a must-watch for anyone who is a fan of the series, and it provides a deeper insight into the show’s narrative and its characters. Overall, it’s a great episode that will be remembered for years to come.
