This week marks the final mid-season finale of The Walking Dead.
It is the last one and it left its mark as one of the best mid-season episodes in the series. For the first time in a long time, The Walking Dead did not had to resort to a cheap cliffhanger. This is because many stories are wrapped up and it left me looking forward to seeing the next bunch of episodes.
Josh Hamilton has been brilliant as Lance. Never would I thought that a comic character that had zero personality would be remixed into a great villain. Lance’s motive was set here as he wanted to take over the communities. If you ever played the board game RISK, Lance did exactly that. He used Leah to take down Maggie. While all of this was going on, he successfully took over Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Oceanside as they now belong to The Commonwealth.
The fate of Oceanside’s residents remain unknown as of right now, but I hope that they will not be executed. I also love the long fight between Leah and Maggie. However, not a single time I could suspend my disbelief that Leah would kill Maggie due to the fact that her and Negan are getting their own spinoff. That is starting to see the light as Maggie fully trusts Negan now. Daryl had to be the one to kill Leah as it made sense to their story. I do wish that Leah and Carol could have meet.
I must admit, seeing the swarm of locusts kept me engaged. It added to the theme of this episode which is titled “Acts of God.”The Walking Dead used symbolisms in the past and it really worked here this week.
With these developments along with a great gun battle, and Connie and Kelly printing that story about Pamela, There is a ton to look forward to on the last eight episodes of The Walking Dead.
