In honor of National Whiskey Day, The Macallan has partnered with the luxurious The Baccarat Hotel to offer an exclusive whiskey cocktail creation that takes the flavors and limits of whiskey to the next level. The drink is titled The Doctor’s Order and is offered through a unique cocktail experience at The Bar within The Baccarat Hotel.
This drink is made with The Macallan 18, The Macallan M Black, Honey, Ginger, and Lemon and is currently being served at $95 per drink. At first this cocktail seems simple enough, but even after the first sip your palate gets blown away by the complexity of the whiskey. The aroma of the drink was very citrussy with notes of orange and lemon with a hint of oak and caramel from the whiskey. With our first sip, we immediately took in how light and refreshing this drink is. For those that have had a whiskey cocktail before (or even tried it on the rocks), you know how heavy and spirit forward a whiskey drink usually is. As we let the flavors develop on our palate and roll around on our tongue, we noticed that the ginger and honey play an impact at the very beginning of the drink that marry beautifully with the spices and orange notes from the Macallan 18 and the rich fruitiness from The Macallan M Black. And the addition of the lemon spritz adds a new layer of brightness to the drink that helps reinvigorate your palate after each sip.
Our lasting impression of The Doctor’s Order is that this drink is well worth the price and is something we would eagerly order again. The complexity in the whiskey is shown throughout the cocktail and the careful cultivation of ingredients to pair and marry in with the whiskey flavors was thoughtful and impactful.
