On Wednesday, November 20th, The Knockturnal helped sponsor a millennial mixer in collaboration with 1WorldFest!

Hosted at 1 Degree Up in Astoria Queens, the millennial mixer sought to bring millennials from all different backgrounds together to build connections and spread a message of unity. With the help from sponsors The Knockturnal, Luc Belaire, The Focus Group, Punch Dolla Entertainment, 1 Degree up, and ZZ Jeans, 1WorldFest was able to create a truly special night. The venue was full of young people from different backgrounds bonding together over Chinese food from 1 Degree Up and around hookah stations. The goal of 1WorldFest is to spread awareness about culture and promote inclusion and for the past 3 years, they’ve been doing just that. Malachi Davis, a board member of 1WorldFest said, “One of the main things that we try to preach to people is that if you take the time out to understand somebody, you’ll see that you have more in common than you don’t have in common.” This millennial mixer is just one of many events 1WorldFest hosts, including a gentrification town hall and an upcoming documentary and music initiative called The International Cypher: Border Patrol. Kamell Ellis, CEO, and Co-Founder of 1WorldFest is committed to continuing to grow the organization and build as many bridges and connect as many people as he can.

“We are just going to continue to do things where we build platforms that bring people together. Talk to someone who you may not have even talked to. A lot of the people in this city and around the world don’t know their neighbors, so we have an initiative called get to know 1World; talk to somebody you may not have talked to and go outside your comfort zone” said Kamell.
