The Hate U Give premiers October 19, 2018.
20th Century Fox has just released the first official trailer for their new film The Hate U Give. The film is based on the New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas, and stars Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Common and Anthony Mackie.
Directed by George Tillman, Jr., The Hate U Give tells the story of Starr Carter (Amandla Stenberg), a teenage girl caught between two worlds; her home, a poor and mostly black neighborhood, and her school, mostly rich and white. Her struggle to be apart of both worlds is amplified when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood friend, Khalil (Algee Smith), by a police officer. With all of this struggle resting on her shoulders, Starr must find her voice and use it to stand up for what is right.
