The only way to ring in two hundred years of world-renowned whisky is with a one of a kind, erroneous sized cake!
On Tuesday June 25, The Glenlivet throws a whimsical outdoor soiree that’s perfectly fitting for a summer evening in the city. The event is held at Elizabeth Street Garden, which coincidentally has remained a public recreational space in the Nolita neighborhood for nearly two hundred years.
The live band’s harmonious performance sets a tone of levity, as guests explore the grounds, mingle, and sip on some Glenlivet whisky . Classic crafted cocktails are served at the bar, and lines begin to form for the old fashioned made with 12 Year Old Double Oak, and a boulevardier made with 14 Year Old Cognac Cask Selection.
Gohar’s decedent masterpiece is quite literally the centerpiece of the event. The cake is decorated with green and white icing, designed with intricate piping, and topped with fruit-like décor. Expanding to almost seventeen feet, the maximalist dessert has a rich vanilla base and is filled with scotch infused jam made with peaches and apricots.
Gohar’s execution of the decedent birthday cake is inspired by the whisky brand’s latest release, The Glenlivet Fusion Cask. The Glenlivet Fusion Cask is carefully finished in ‘first fill’ rum and bourbon barrels, and carries sweet notes of apricot, peach, apples, and a bit of cinnamon spice.
“Our commitment to innovation and excellence transcends whisky and expands into culture, which is why we are proud to partner with Laila Gohar, a true original who shares our propensity for redefining codes to join us in marking this milestone moment,” says Johan Radojewski, Pernod Ricard USA’s Vice President of Marketing – Scotch, Irish & Prestige Whisk(e)y.
