Tamera Mowry-Housley, actress and co-host of The Real, has teamed up with Febreze One to launch a video series called #ONEHappyHome, in recognition of the #ONEStateOfMind campaign.
In the series, Tamera demonstrates the versatility in the product as it eliminates odors in household environments and on upholstery with no aerosols, dyes, or perfumes. In the series, which was filmed in Tamera’s North California home, she provides housekeeping tips, ways to get the most out of the Febreze tool, and even offers some of her strategies to maintain a fresh and safe environment for her husband, Adam Housley, and their two kids.
The Knockturnal: How did this partnership begin? What influenced your involvement with the campaign and the #OneHappyHome video series?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: As a mom—I have two kids: one is five, one is two and a half—it’s inevitable that I am going to have odors in my house. I am naturally an OCD individual, I like things clean, I like things smelling fresh. I was actually a scent skeptic before because of overpowering of sprays; the harsh scents would actually give me a headache. What I love about partnering with Febreze One is that with Febreze One, unlike any of the fabric and air mists out there, there are no heavy perfumes; it’s light. No dyes, no aerosols. So it safely cleans away those odors. As a mom, that makes me feel good because I’m spraying this stuff and at the same time, it’s not hurting anybody. So when I’m happy because everything is clean, everyone is happy. Happy wife, happy life. So that’s the reason why I partnered with them. It’s a perfect fit and I think people need to know, especially moms, that there is a solution out there. If you want to get away those odors, you have one that safely and effectively cleans away those odors. So that’s why.
The Knockturnal: What is your definition of a happy home? What are some essentials in creating the ideal living space that is kid-friendly and peaceful?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: Happy home. Clean. Ambiance. You know? I believe that when you have a fresh smelling environment it just enhances your mood. As a mom, I can have some challenging and stressful days and I’ve experienced that when everything is clean, everything smells fresh, it just gives me that peaceful, relaxed, one state of mind and I’m happy. The other thing is light. I studied Psychology. That was my degree. Light in your home actually can help with depression. So light, and make sure your home is your sacred place, you know? Take care of it. Take care of it. This is where you come home every single day. And cleanliness is next to Godliness. That’s what my mom used to always say. So yea, the energy, the mood, the light, the cleanliness and also the people in it. I’m really big on energy. You have to make sure that whatever’s going on out there. . . We have a sign that says ‘leave the drama at the door.’ So we try. I mean, it’s inevitable that people are going to go through drama, but we try to come in the house and leave all that behind so you can create a warm environment for the family. Because who wants to deal with that? You know?
The Knockturnal: What other purpose do you use Febreze One for?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: What I love about Febreze One is that these are also fabric misters as well, so it cleans your fabric at the same time it cleans your air. So it’s like a two-in-one thing. And it does it all safely so it’s great.
The Knockturnal: Do you have a cleaning strategy that helps you balance household/wife/mother duties and your busy schedule?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: I think prioritizing. I think that it’s really important to make a list. Don’t be afraid to write down the things that are important to you. And then, that will make it easier for you to say ‘no’ to certain things. It’s ok to say ‘no’. It’s ok. And if it’s on your list as a priority, alright, you’re going to make time and make room for that. But my children and my family, they are my number one. I was never the person to organize. Never. No. I am now a planner. It’s very important. Even like meal prep your meals or getting a food delivery service. Those all kind of like help things move along a little bit easier. Also, not to be hard on yourself. Some days you will master it like the queen you are and then other days, sometimes the ball and everything just falls down and you have to be ok with it. There’s no life that is perfect. So, that’s how I do it.
The Knockturnal: To you, what was important to spotlight in this series?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: Well, for one, I was very happy to show my home, my Northern California home. I hadn’t done that in a while and the One Happy Home video gave me the chance to do that. I’m really, really big on creating safe, healthy environments for my children. And when I heard about the ad it was just a no-brainer.
The Knockturnal: Finally, is the Sister, Sister reboot happening? What can you tell us about it?
Tamera Mowry-Housley: I want the reboot to happen so badly. It’s all about timing and we have to make sure everyone is on the same page. I have some upcoming projects, Tia is having a baby girl. I’m so excited. Oh my gosh I can’t wait to kiss that baby. So we’re focusing on that right now but when everything aligns—I really do feel it in my heart—we’re going to do something for the Sister, Sister fans. I really do. It’s just all about timing.
