Coming to America, filled with synths and entrancing 808 beats, is a new face of rap, TAPZ.
New Zealand introduces a new rapper to the hip-hop game. TAPZ, formerly known as Young Tapz, has set the new wave of music on fire with his premiere single Run Don’t Run.
His visual performance of Run Don’t Run electrifies the screen with a subtle, yet strikingly sinister energy. The visual was directed by TAPZ as homage to his diverse roots. Due to political distress, his parents moved him from Zimbabwe to New Zealand in search of refuge. He attributes his success to the lessons imparted to him by his parents.
“They left everything to give me everything. Run Don’t Run is a note to self; reminder,” says TAPZ.
TAPZ grew to acclaim with his quick, chart topping banger Killa. The hit single has amassed praise from hit radio station Beat 1, with the support of Zane Lowe.
“In the context of my vision, I must leave everything to give everything. The video is a visual representation of my journey to find fearlessness in a system where we are taught to run and to act without question.”
The newest hit maker also has a plethora of talents. He has written and produced tracks and singles for known artists like 6LACK, Wynter Gordon, and Vic Mensa.
TAPZ embodies the vitality of his past as fuel for his energized flare of trap rap and R’n’B. His powerful melodies bring about a new generation of music, with a taste of soul.
