The new Disney+ series, Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., begins streaming September 8th.
Peyton Elizabeth Lee stars as Lahela a 16 year old prodigy doctor known as Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. The new Disney plus series is set in Hawaii and is inspired by Doogie Howser, M.D., the original show that ran from 1989-1993. This new series is for the whole family and is filled with comedy and drama. The episodes follow Lahela as she tries to balance her responsibilities as a doctor and teenager.
The show features an exciting cast of her family members played by Kathleen Rose Perkins, Jason Scott Lee, Matthew Sato, and Wes Tian. Working in the hospital is the hilarious team of Jeffrey Chapman-Bowyer, Mapuana Makia and Ronny Chieng. Lahela’s friends are played by Alex Aiono and Emma Meisel. The Knockturnal recently interviewed this cast as they shared their experience. Filming during a pandemic was a challenge, but they worked together to follow safety procedures during traveling and filming. Most of the cast celebrated how they loved filming in Hawaii, as they enjoyed the beauty of the state.
