Menβs 2017 Fashion Week pushed the boundaries between fashion and risquΓ© in designer Sanchez Kaneβs 2018 Spring collection.
For his Spring/Summer 18 collection, Raun Larose played with dimension and proportions.
Raunβs wide cropped pant legs (some made of denim, some with a latex-like material), half, shoulder baring sweaters, and high sheer socks gave his audience quite an interesting show! All of the models stood upon an elevated platform, and rotated every few minutes, allowing the spectators to get a full on look at the clothes.
The dramatics of the clothing, the venue, and words, rather than music, blaring through the speakers were all key elements of the presentation. Some of the schoolboy/avant-garde 80βs stock broker looks were paired RL monogramed shirts, nerdy glasses, and slightly disheveled hair. The generally large silhouettes, which Raun also dabbled in with his last collection, seem to be here to stay.

As Daniel Hechter was new to this season’s New York Men’s Day roster I marked it down as a brand to watch. Β Although new to me Daniel Hechter Paris is a French label with 50+ years under their belt.
Menswear brand, Death to Tennis debuted its Spring 2018 collection at New York Fashion Week: Menβs on Tuesday, July 11th, at Skylight Clarkson Sq.
On Tuesday, July 11th, we took backstage with Death to Tennis to check out grooming looks for New York Fashion Week: Menβs.
Krammer & Stoudt returnedΒ to New York Men’s Day for the presentation of its spring/summer 2018 collection. Β The east coast brand didn’tΒ stray away from itsΒ west coast vibes, however, it did offer a more laid back technique. Β Michael Rubin the designer behind the brand pulled inspirationΒ from his childhood camping trips in Baja Cali: a Mexican State bordering California.
Models were super chill surroundedΒ by shimmeringΒ silver pop-up palm trees and soft lighting which helped create a more mellow aesthetic. Β The collection itself was a contemporary bohemian So-Cal feel infused with a southwestΒ latin twist. Β Hues of blue were the primary color palette used. The line also added pops of cream, beige, green, and purple. Intricate stripes, embroideries, and graphic prints were prominent in the collection as well. Β Featured pieces were casual suits, light sports jackets, silk-like buttonΒ down shirts, ankleΒ length cuffed trousers, short knit robe-like sweaters, and matching short and shirt sets.
Although some of the pieces may look a bit heavyΒ for summer to the eye their soft, light, and airy to the touch. This was achievedΒ by the use of severalΒ fine fabrics, chiefΒ of which were sponsored by Albini Group.
The Albini Group is an Italian textile house responsibleΒ for producer of some of the world’s finest shirting fabrics. Β This they partneredΒ with the CFDA and New York Men’s Day to donate a selection of luxury fabrics to New York’s most promising emergent designers.
David Hart presented his spring/summer 2018 collection at the 8th biannual New York Men’s Day held at Dune Studios. Β Always an exciting show, Hart’s premium hand tailored clothing offers a mix of retro with a modernΒ day flair. Β This season Hart channeled Cuban tourismΒ or at least the idea of it as inspiration for his collection. Β As Hart has yet to visit the Caribbean Island for himself. Β He pulled Cuban references from music, photos, and cinema.
Hart did a fantastic job setting the mood, which was felt as soon as I steppedΒ foot into the room. Β TheΒ runway was lined with CubanΒ style tiles, there were the palm plants, palm trees, and music toΒ match. Β The collection was bright, colorful, fresh, and fun. Β With sharply tailored clothing that we expect as well as sportswear. Β There were: tropical print short-sleeve shirts, boldly striped blazers, sash-like neck scarves,Β Panama hats, and bermuda-ish shorts. Β Pant suits ranged in colorΒ from cream, navy, and a sand-like brown. Β Stand out colors was an orange reminiscent of my grandmother’s favoriteΒ sorbet, to a special kind of red that had me thinking of bloody mary cocktails on a whiteΒ sanded beach. Β The most memorable look for me, hands down was the mint green suit pants andΒ matching blazer paired with a banana print camp shirt,Β Β‘increΓble!
Hart also showed two women’s wear looks that would pair perfectly with the David Hart guy. Β The ladies wore pleated high-waist pants with tie-off shirts. The beach vibes were felt and I left the show feeling ready to pack my bags and head off to Cuba. Β For any readers in the US that are feeling the Cuban spirit, you may want to plan a trip sooner than later considering Trump’s plans to pull back onΒ tourism from the US to Cuba.
