Creator of “Kenan and Kel”, Kim Bass breaks down his career and newest film
I was able to sit down with the creator of “Kenan and Kel” Kim Bass as he went over his fantastic career in the television sitcom world.
He got the bug to be in the television and film industry very young. He was seven years old when his grandfather took him to his first movie and he thought that he would find a way to figure it all out. Moreover, “Kenan and Kel” was based on Bass’ relationship with his best friend Tyrone and his other show “Sister, Sister” was based on his twin sisters. He was also involved with a sketch comedy show called “In Living Color”.
In 2022, Bass had a film called “Tyson’s Run” and it began streaming on Netflix outside of the U.S. and it will begin streaming in the U.S. on Netflix on February 28, 2024 and has performed well globally, becoming the top 8 film on Netflix.
His other film “A Snowy Day in Oakland” began streaming recently on Starz, as well.
Obviously, Bass has been very busy with his work and doesn’t seem to be showing signs of slowing down as he will be shooting his next film entitled “A Lawyer, The Devil, Three Priests and a Nun” next spring.

Actor Alden Ehrenreich Talks Making His Directorial Debut ‘Shadow Brother Sunday’
I had the highest privilege of sitting down with the star of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Cocaine Bear, and Oppenheimer Alden Ehrenreich in an exclusive interview. He currently has a short film coming out called Shadow Brother Sunday that he wrote, directed and starred in.
Richard: Where are you from and where did you grow up?
Alden: I grew up in the Westside of Los Angeles.
Richard: How did you get started in the business of acting?
Alden: When I was, I was always acting when I was a little kid. I was always in plays. I was always doing différent musicals and when I was in Middle school I went to a different school that had a great performing arts program called Crossroads and I was doing a lot of theater there and I was doing a lot of filmmaking and we had a great video production teacher named Billy Robertson and we would do these little videos and go see movies and that’s where I really met a bunch of other kids that loved movies and it elevated our whole conversations.
Richard: Tell us more about your latest project Shadow Brother Sunday.
Alden: This is a short film that I wrote and directed and acted in. It’s about the older brother of this young movie star who is a failed musician. He’s kinda had a hard time and he’s living in his car and he has come back to his family’s house on the day of his younger brother’s big movie premiere to take the younger brother’s computer and sell it to the paparazzi because he needs money, but it’s really about his relationship with the family and more broadly than that, it’s about the people that fall through the cracks of a success festival.

The Meg franchise has been revived this summer for Meg 2: The Trench. The film follows Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) as he works with Jiuming Zhang (Wu Jing) at Juiming’s environmental foundation and also helps to raise his niece, Meiying (Sophia Cai). Together, along with a research team, they venture into Mariana’s Trench. Chaos ensues on multiple fronts as they encounter Megs and subterfuge from environmental naysayers, leading viewers on an action-packed ride.
Meg 2 is a nice mix of crowd-pleasing humor and action, lending itself as the perfect movie for a viewer hoping to duck into a movie theater to escape the summer’s heat to the disgruntled babysitter looking for an activity to keep the kids busy for the afternoon. Initially slow to kick off, the second half of The Meg 2 more than compensates for this with a whirlwind series of battles between Statham, Jing, their teammates, and the elements surrounding them that will have the rest of the moviegoer’s time flying by.
Viewers can look to DJ (played by Page Kennedy) to do most of the comedic lifting in the second half of the film. It is also advised to see the first movie in the Meg franchise, as there are several references to key plot points left over from the first film. Ultimately, Meg 2: The Trench is a movie best seen at home with friends and family, free to laugh not only with, but more importantly at the film, to your heart’s content.
I, recently, spoke with screenwriter, director and Daytime Emmy Award-nominee Dui Jarrod about his time in the film industry and what he has planned for the future.
