Wednesday March 2nd was the world premiere of HBO’s new drama series WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS DYNASTY. WINNING TIME is a fast-break series chronicling the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, one of sports’ most revered and dominant dynasties. The premiere took place at The Ace Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
Executive producer Adam McKay and co-creator/showrunner Max Borenstein hosted the premiere. Attendees watched the first episode and experienced an after-party on a custom-made basketball court just like where the Lakers made history in the 1980s at The Forum.
It was a star-studded purple carpet that included series stars John C. Reilly (Jerry Buss), Quincy Isaiah (Magic Johnson), Jason Clarke (Jerry West), Adrien Brody (Pat Riley), DeVaughn Nixon (Norm Nixon), Solomon Hughes (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Jason Segel (Paul Westhead), Sally Field (Jessie Buss), Hadley Robinson (Jeanie Buss), Rob Morgan (Earvin Johnson Sr.), Delante Desouza (Michael Cooper), Spencer Garrett (Chick Hearn), Tamera Tomakili (Earleatha “Cookie” Kelly), and Brett Cullen (Bill Sharman), as well as recurring guest stars Michael Chiklis (Red Auerbach), Sean Patrick Small (Larry Bird), among many more.
