Seven designers made their international debuts at the Global Fashion Collective’s fourth and fifth New York Fashion Week shows on Sept. 8.Â
The line was wrapped out the door and around the block for the eagerly awaited Global Fashion Collective NYFW presentation. The collective, founded with the mission to make the fashion industry more inclusive and diverse by offering international designers a platform to showcase their work in the public sphere, presented three designers at their Day 2 – Part IV presentation: Naoko Tosa’s Sound of Ikebana, YILLIAQ & Eduardo Ramos.
- Naoko Tosa’s Sound of Ikebana – Tosa’s line featured sleek yet casual drapey sweaters, kimonos, and dresses for men and women alike. The dark fabrics were screen-printed with images of paints vibrated by soundwaves, reminiscent of Japanese florals and fitting giving the designer’s influences and background: “[Naoko Tosa’s] artworks are a fusion of art, Japanese culture, and technology.
- YILLIAQ – geometry was the name of the game with the YILLIAQ FW ’24 collection. Models paraded down the runway in numerous captivating structures, such as a giant box embellished with flowers with only the model’s legs visible and a sleek black wraparound coat stitched with crane origami in a cellophane like finish. Red, white, and blue colors were present throughout the collection, a homage to the designer, Yu Quian’s Mongolian roots.
- Eduardo Ramos – The Eduardo Ramos FW’24 collection was elegant yet edgy enough even for the posh Saltburn family—the silk headpieces donned by many of the models were even reminiscent of the main character’s infamous antler ears! Sleek evening gowns, and glamorous men’s suits and coats were the staples of this collection.
