June 16th, 2016, marks the official launch of the Hamilton creative genius’ merchandising platform, Tee-Rico. Tee-Rico is the officially-licensed merchandise site where those who wish to help the victims of the Orlando tragedy have the opportunity to do so through purchasing the “Love is Love” tee shirt. The tee-shirt quotes Lin-Manuel Miranda’s famous Tony-Award acceptance sonnet for receiving “Love cannot be killed or swept aside NOW fill the world with music, love, and PRIDE”.
With every Hamilton lover, Broadway fan, and Orlando supporter’s purchase of a t-shirt, the purchase goes directly toward helping raise money for the victims of Orlando. Lin-Manuel Miranda is working with Broadway Cares (founded in 1988 by the The Producer’s Group, which raised money for AIDS service organizations nationwide including the famous Equity Fights AIDS) which provides funding for Equality Cares in Florida and assists with their “tireless efforts to secure equality and justice for Florida’s LGBT community.” In addition, Lin-Manuel Miranda is also strongly advising his fans to directly donate to the GoFundMe account specifically set up for the victims of Orlando.
