Director George Tillman Jr magically brings alive the full-of-life decades of the talented and iconic, George Foreman, which he writes on Instagram, “was a beast,” to create!
Actor Khris Davis transforms into Foreman, not only mentally, but physically as well, as he tells me in our interview, that he shockingly had to gain a huge amount of weight in five weeks, and was eating 7,000 calories in order to get to his highest weight of 282 pounds, all while training at least 6 hours a day. That type of discipline and commitment confirm why the talented actor is definitely one to watch in the entertainment industry!
The film encompasses two personal journeys of Foreman’s – his boxing and his spirituality. The vulnerability and emotional openness, was a fresh take on a sports movie, and humanized the toughness that is often showcased, especially in the aggressive sport of boxing. The movie gives us the behind-the-scenes look as to the emotional breakdowns and breakthroughs in Foreman’s life, and the huge impact that religion had on his internal motivation to become not only the best sportsman, but the best human he can be. Director George Tillman Jr, and Actor Khris Davis both worked closely alongside George Foreman himself to make sure that the vision of his grand and adventurous life, was depicted as truthfully and authentically as possible, aka Foreman himself gives his blessing!
