The most epic love story of all time is getting a refreshing reboot for a new generation of hopeless romantics.
As a fan of one of the most iconic love stories ever told, I was thrilled to speak with the cast of Juliet and Romeo, a unique take on Shakespeare’s beloved tragedy. The film retells the epic tale with a twist—the story unfolds through original pop songs and choreography.
Directed by Timothy Scott Bogart, the film gives our favorite star-crossed lovers a modern approach while still paying homage to the original. The movie stars Jamie Ward and Clara Rugaard as Romeo and Juliet, who bring just the right amount of chemistry and love-at-first-sight magic to the screen.
Joining the main duo is comedy queen Rebel Wilson as Lady Capulet, Juliet’s traditional and strong-willed mother.
The Knockturnal spoke with Wilson about her performance and how her own experiences with motherhood influenced her portrayal. We also met with Jamie Ward, Clara Rugaard, and Timothy Scott Bogart.
Juliet and Romeo hit theaters May 9.
