On July 27th, 2019, Kiehl’s and amfAR celebrated 10 years of the Liferide. The event was held in Westfield Century City’s Cabana. The Liferide was created to raise money and awareness for HIV/AIDS research. Prior rides have ranged from Los Angeles all the way to San Francisco. Just before the celebration, the life riders consisting of; Prince Michael Jackson, Gilles Marini, JR Bourne, Scott Patterson, Ian Bohen, Travis Shinn, Kurt Yaeger, Timothy White, Grant Reynolds, Katee Sackhoff, Luke Wessman, Scott Niemeyer, Milissa Sears, Conrad Leach, Trisha Helfer and amfAR’s own CEO Kevin Frost rode from North Malibu Canyon to the Cabana. The event was filled with tons of supporters learning more about the research and the heart behind the ride while being entertained with various foods and live music by Scott Patterson, a Liferider himself. By the end of the event the rider’s had ridden a total of 12,000 miles and raised over $2 million for research. Therefore funding numerous research projects, amfAR’s partnership with Kiehl’s to create the Liferide has contributed immensely to amfAR’s goal of reaching $100 million raised for research by 2020.
The 21th anniversary DesignCare event was produced by actress Holly Robinson Peete and her husband Rodney Peete through their nonprofit organization, The HollyRod Foundation (HRF), and benefited those with autism and Parkinson’s disease. The 2019 DesignCare Gala took place on Saturday, July 27th and featured special musical performances by legendary and iconic band Cameo, as well as a fashion show by designer Pamella Roland who displayed her whimsical and gorgeous pieces from the Resort 2020 collection. Mario Lopez and Disney star Navia Robinson partnered with the California Milk Processor Board, the entity behind the iconic got milk? campaign, to introduce a new effort dedicated to educating California youth on the real benefits of milk as “nature’s energy drink”. It’s called #BonesLoveMilk and they’ve found a pretty cool, unconventional way to bring this effort to life through California skate culture, connecting kids and teens with their passion points — and on their turf, showcasing how milk is a true nutrient powerhouse, delivering the calcium and nutrients for strong bones, energy, hydration and muscle recovery. The effort includes the unveiling of the #BonesLoveMilk Shredquarters – an immersive, indoor skatepark experience as part of a week-long program hosted by the California Milk Processor Board dedicated to celebrating skate and California street culture while showcasing the real benefits of milk as nature’s energy drink.
