Sierra Nevada Resort Debuts Modern Renovation, Pays Homage to History

Once a popular getaway for Hollywood’s most elite, the Sierra Nevada Resort appeared on the scene in 1967, and today, they proudly debut a completely renovated property. Following the grand reopening, the Sierra Nevada Resort served as a partner of the 2023 Mammoth Film Festival.

The modern yet rustic mountain retreat is nestled in the heart of Mammoth Lakes, California. Experience the breathtaking mountain range, with convenient access to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, Mammoth Lakes Hiking Trails, the east gate of Yosemite National Park, and the Bishop Airport.

The resort now offers guests an all-in-one experience including accommodations like Black Tie Ski Rentals, fire pits, in-room spa services, and more. The in-house rental shop provides guests the option of concierge delivery service, ensuring everyone has the proper ski and/or snowboard equipment before hitting the slopes.

The closest ski lift is a five-minute drive. Rather not drive? No problem; just catch the complimentary shuttle pick-up/drop-off, which arrives every 15-20 minutes, mere feet from your hotel room. Once on the majestic mountain slopes, guests will find skiing and snowboarding opportunities for those of all ability levels; all this while surrounded by eye-catching panoramic views of the California wilderness.

After a jam-packed day filled with outdoor adventures, come on back to the resort to warm up and wind down. Grab a drink from the lobby wine bar, have dinner at the brand new Bar Sierra, or get cozy in one of the resort’s luxurious fireplace suites. With more amenities than any other room in town, guests can experience heated bathroom floors, waterfall showers, large tubs, kitchenettes, gas fireplaces, and leather lounge chairs, to name a few.

History buffs will appreciate the vintage touches behind the Sierra Nevada Resort, which include a 1905 California Bungalow Baby Grand that has called the resort lobby its home for a number of years. Once owned by Hollywood star Clark Gable, and later acquired by songwriter and composer Hoagy Carmichael, the piano appeared in the film To Have and Have Not. Also still standing is the lobby’s original hand-carved wooden bar.

In homage to the resort’s early Hollywood patronage, the renovation includes a gallery wall with black-and-white photographs of past guests including John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, and many others. Originally opened by Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss, the Sierra Nevada Resort has become a beloved fixture of the mountain town and a must-see for those visiting.
