Secteur 6 Environmentally Conscious NYFW F/W 2020 Presentation

Fashion month is always a dazzling reminder of the fashion industry’s is a widespread and significant impact on our culture.

What might shock even the most devoted style savants, however, is that the fashion industry is currently one of the top contributors to pollution. Garment and fiber production that the industry heavily leans on has resulted in severe water and air pollution. It was this ugly truth that inspired Amit and Puneet Hooda, the duo behind the emerging brand ‘Secteur 6,’ to start the world’s first fully regenerative fashion line. During New York Fashion Week, Secateur 6 had the opportunity to present their collection and were met by an eager audience.

Rather than relying on synthetic fibers, Secteur 6 utilizes natural resources like bananas, rose petals and bamboo. It appears the aesthetics in this collection seemed to take inspiration from their flowery and fruity resources. A range of colors straight out of a flower garden graced the runway during the presentation, in designs that were both practical and eye-catching. In addition to the already fun pieces on the runway, the nostalgic 80s/90s pop playlist narrating the show had all of the fashion fans in the audience fully ready to dance.

Secteur 6’s mission is to reshape the industry through conscious fashion. The collection presentation exemplified how brands can take sustainability into consideration and still produce creative looks. If their NYFW presentation was any indication, it seems this brand is already on a good track to set the tone for a new generation in fashion production.
