It’s New Year’s Eve and from the side of a warehouse in Brooklyn, you can see people freezing and pulling out tickets from their heavy coats. As I approached the event I could see people were excited and moving through lines, security, and coat checks to see one man … David Guetta. The world-renowned French DJ, who not to mention is a songwriter, record producer, and remixer made his Brooklyn appearance nothing but special for the fans who came out to celebrate with him this NYE at Depot 52 presented by Light & Life.
To set the tone for his NYE set, David Guetta gave the fans an amazing light show. This light show came with a combination of digital animals and large live motion images of him spinning. There was also, what seemed to be a crowd favorite, a live background of the crowd screaming their faces off, HOPING for that one moment when the camera light would drop on them.
Just when the crowd thought they had fulfilled their NYE delight they would be re-energized with a beat drop sending explosions of confetti to shower fans. Highlights included “Sexy Bitch,” “Titanium,” “Without You” and “Play Hard.” Looking back, the energy was something that could be felt all the way at the back of the venue. Turning around to see hundreds of fans lined up with lovers, friends, and family holding each other close was something to witness. Once midnight hit, the concert hit its peak and the room was filled with nothing but good New Year’s vibes. Hearing the beautiful roar of fans yell “Happy New Year” solidified why this event was a must.
He said it himself and I’ll repeat it for the legendary David Guetta: “I was supposed to be at another event for a lot more money, but I’m here with you tonight because I wanted to get back to how I started. I started DJing at warehouses and I wanted to enjoy this night with you… NYC I LOVE YOU.”
