Grey’s Anatomy star Sara Ramirez has signed on to produce the new film Loserville, a film starring Darby Stanchfield (Scandal), Matt McGorry (Orange is the New Black), and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos).
Ramirez, who is also a talented singer, will have her new single, entitled “Rollercoaster,” featured in the film, and Richard Halsey (Rocky among others) will edit it.
The film will tell the story of a high school dork named Chuck (played by Chris Bellant, who also co-wrote the script) as he faces every kid’s worst nightmare: your mom dating your teacher. His mother (Stanchfield) starts dating his gym teacher (McGorry) at the same time he comes to terms with the fact that he and his friends will be separated for college. That and the fact that he has a huge crush on Melissa Mercer (played by Natalie Hall from Pretty Little Liars) even though he’s never talked to her adds on to the pressure he is feeling.
The film is based off of several cult teen movies, as explained by producer Jodi Schoenbrun Carter. The film “follows in the steps of the high school movie classics we all grew up loving such as Sixteen Candles, Heathers, Mean Girls and Easy A.”
