Samsung’s Live @ 837 Kicks Off With Diplo and Gwen Stefani

Samsung introduced its new summer concert series Live @ 837 with performances by Diplo and Gwen Stefani on Thursday.

The business conglomerate opened Samsung 837, its newest flagship location, earlier this year in New York City’s Meatpacking District for fitness, music, and fashion events. To open the day’s exciting events, Zach Overton, vice president and general manager of 837, and Alanna Cotton, vice president of mobile computing marketing, presented Samsung’s new product rollout “Move with Galaxy.”

Alanna Cotton introduced two new fitness devices from the series, the Gear Fit2 and the Gear IconX, describing them as “purposefully designed for people who move at the speed of light.” The Fit2, a new smart watch, is a GPS fitness band and music player wrapped into one with programs to track and log your activity while you work out. Cotton also gave a preview of the new wireless fitness earbuds, the Gear IconX, calling it “a stand-alone fitness tracker.” The IconX keeps track of calories burned, distance, and speed while also providing in-ear feedback through your workout. It is also an internal music player with storage of up to one thousand songs in the earbuds themselves.

After the presentation, Zach Overton invited the guests to enjoy Samsung 837’s first of many free concerts from the terrace of the building. They shut down two city blocks in Meatpacking for multiple stages, and thousands swarmed Washington Street for Diplo and special guest Gwen Stefani, who performed “Sweet Escape,” “Hollaback Girl,” “Make Me Like You” and “Misery.”

From the terrace, party goers could see people enjoying the show not only from the street level but across the building from the High Line as well.

Though it is a flagship store where nothing is for sale, Samsung 837 will be providing a variety of services and events throughout the summer, like live music events, exclusive screenings, and interactive art installations. Some of these evens include Governor’s Ball after parties, food festivals, outdoor yoga, and NBA Finals viewing parties, as well as one-on-one product demos for the public to enjoy.
