Best known for his roles in comedies like The Hot Chick and Grown Ups, the seasoned actor made room for his own daughters to act alongside him in this adorable family comedy.Β
Rob Schneiderβs newest film, Daddy Daughter Trip, will not only melt your heart, but remind you of the importance of family during this season of celebration. Schneider directed and starred in the film as Larry BublΓ©, a struggling, yet, ambitious inventor.Β
The premise of the film is that Larry and his wife, Megan (played by Jackie Sandler) are in deep financial hardship, yet Larry promises their eight-year-old daughter (played by Schneiderβs real-life daughter, Miranda Schneider), an exciting spring break vacation. Hilarity ensues as Larry tries his best to give his daughter an experience she will never forget.Β
The family comedy also includes Schneiderβs other daughters, Madeline Schneider and Elle King who make cameos within the film.Β
I asked Rob Schneider what it was like including his daughters in this movie and he shared how he often forgot about the cameras while filming as working with his daughter felt so natural.Β
βItβs really nice cause there’s daddies and daughters in movies, but this is a real daddy and a real daughter in a movie. And she’s eight which is such a precious ageβ, said Schneider. βThere’s a scene that we practiced where literally weβre in bed looking at the stars and Iβm kissing her goodnight, before she goes to sleepβ¦and it was really precious and by the time we got to shoot it, I would just forget about the cameras.βΒ
Schneider also described how thematically, the film shows the importance of inspiring children to follow their dreams. This relates to Larryβs belief that one day his inventions will be successful.Β
βThere’s so much in our culture about making moneyβ¦what other people define success asβ¦Itβs taking the cultural expectations down and just following your heart.I hope that thatβs the message. I think it’s important to hang onto your dreams, even if theyβre crazy.β
Daddy Daughter Trip will be released on DVD and Digital on December 5.
