RnBLive! threw a stunning Grammy after party at the legendary Avalon in Hollywood. The show featured performances by a breathtaking group of up-and-coming artists and was capped off by a timeless CeeLo Green performance.
The night started with a busy red carpet featuring stars big and extra big. The venue served stiff and sturdy drinks to a well-heeled and fun-loving crowd.
Grammy winner Damon Elliot served as musical director for the star-studded night. The first standout performance came from a group of soul funk futurists covering classic hits. They were lead by an afro’d brother with the best falsetto I’ve ever heard. I would pay good money to see them again.
They were followed by another soul band, the grease meets sleek act Gritz and Jelly Butter. They played a set that was both funky and churchy. They had a very 90s rap feel, classic and fun.
Mathew Knowles’ new girl group Blushhh came up next and turned the room on it’s head. Their set was tight and alluring, equal parts empowering and ferocious. I leaned over to my plus one and said ‘all three of them are stars.’ Incredible.
CeeLo Green closed the night decked out in a black tank top and flowy black pants. He played classic songs—rumor was he’d be playing material from his new project Gnarly Davidson—that we all eagerly sang along to. It was a good ass night.
