Valerian tells the story of special operatives that work together to maintain order throughout human territories in the 28th century. Besson’s Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets is stirring up quite a buzz. Alongside Rihanna, the cast includes Dane Dehaan, Cara Delevingne and Herbie Hancock.
Rihanna plays Bubble, a shape-shifting entertainer. When asked about her character in an interview, Rih says ‘she’s in this place and she has to perform, and the thing that makes her feel free is her performing. Her being an artist, becoming whatever and making people happy in that way. She’s an entertainer.’ The character is first introduced to the story at a cabaret club called the glam club. There was a lot of detailed FX makeup that went into creating Bubble’s different shapes, so be sure to watch the film and see Rihanna in action and Besson’s work come to life.
