Rapsody’s New Album ‘EVE’ Celebrates Historical Black Women

On the eve of her official album release, Grammy-nominated rapper Rapsody hosted a listening party for her third studio album EVE that dropped on August 23rd.

Taking place on the rooftop of a midtown New York City hotel surrounded by industry peers, friends and family, the Roc Nation rapper played songs from the new project which includes some impressive collaborations with artists like legendary Wu-Tang member GZA, J. Cole, Elle Varner and her mentor Queen Latifah.

Guests gathered around the woman of the hour, holding custom EVE cups filled with cocktails sponsored by D’USSE while she introduced the first song on the album.

EVE is an ode to the lives and contributions of Rapsody’s many female heroes. Each track on the album is named after a famous black woman, opening with a strikingly poetic tribute to Nina Simone entitled “Nina.”

Rapsody effortlessly flows through each song, sending hard-hitting lyrics of hope, love and self-confidence over old-school hip-hop beats and finally closing with a tribute to the late social activist and mother to Tupac, “Afeni” Shakur.

In this current political and social climate, it can be easy for us to get submerged in the things that do not matter while forgetting about the things that actually do, such as who we really are and what our ultimate purpose is.

EVE flawlessly reflects the importance of always remembering where we come from, and there was no better time to release such an inspirational body of work than right now.

EVE is now available on all streaming platforms. Watch the video for Rapsody’s latest single “Ibtihaj” featuring D’Angelo and GZA with cameos from Mary J. Blige and Roxanne Shanté.
