On Wednesday night, August 21, HBO Latino presented its newest project promoting Latino talent, Marquesina Sessions, to an eager crowd in Brooklyn. The evening began with a small tour in the first couple of rooms where an array of projected videos described the vision of HBO Latino’s new series. Leading to the back room, Dos XXs beer and cocktails were imbibed in preparation for the screening. The celebration of their latest music special, Farruko: En Letra de Otro, was announced with a viewing of the first 30 minutes of the documentary of the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter
This exclusive showing was ahead of its premiere on August 23rd at 8 pm ET/PT and is the third edition of Latin Grammy award-winning En Letra de Otro series that was produced and created by Sony Music Latin. The series goes into detail about Farruko’s home town in Puerto Rico and the gang violence that ran rampant through his childhood home. With each performance, Farruko tells the story behind each covered song and its influence on him. A truly immersive dive into this artists newest album, now available.
The Event Host, Alex Sensation, mediated a Q&A with Sharo Towers, Reggaeton and Latin trap producer, and the man of the hour himself, Farruko. When he opened the audience up for questions, hands shot up in the sky, begging for the chance to pick the brains of the musician known for his stylish selection of eyewear.
Following the screening and Q&A Farruko gave an exclusive live performance where audience members got to see the songs he performed in the film, performed in real life. Songs like “Mi Nena,” “Qué Hay de Malo,” and “Una Lágrima” are already sure to become popular hits. The musician’s stage presence and passion for Reggaeton will certainly propel him forward.
The after-party went late into the night with sets from two prominent Latinx DJs, D’Marquesina and Riobamba. Although it was a school night, there was no slowing down these partygoers as they spin and shimmy on the dance floor till the early morning hours. A successful event that celebrates the diverse and groundbreaking Latino talent and bringing awareness to said talent and the people behind them.
