After years of writing for other artists including Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus (“We Can’t Stop”) and Rihanna (“Pour It Up”), brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas best known as R. City or Rock City have come full circle with the upcoming release of their debut album “What Dreams Are Made Of.”
The fourteen track album includes the Dr. Luke produced lead single “Locked Away,” which features Adam Levine and has already charted on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the Top 10. During an intimate private album listening in New York City at Platinum Studios, the brothers spoke about the story behind the track revealing that they were inspired to create the song after their parents stayed together while their father was imprisoned. Other highlights on the album include a cover version of the Lenny Kravitz hit “Over,” “Checking For You,” “Take You Down” as well as the tracks “Slave to the Dollar” (a song about the hold that money has over people, and the negative things people do for money), “Broadway,” “Make Up” and “Live By The Gun” which features Akon who originally signed the brothers to his label Konlive before they signed with Kemosabe/RCA Records.
The brothers close the album with a ten minute autobiographical track called “Our Story,” which goes into detail about their many struggles to make it in the music industry from dropped record deals to competing in talent shows to making a name for themselves writing for other artists.
What Dreams Are Made Of is currently available for pre-order but will be released on October 9, 2015 and they will be headlining Bowery Ballroom that night.
