Aquasella, also recognized by many as the best techno/house festival of Spain, is only three weeks away , taking place from the 15th to the 18th of August in Asturias, and we cannot hold in our excitement.
As I arrived in Spain, in May 2018, I began to slowly delve into the Spanish electronic music scene. Investigating which festivals this beautiful country had to offer, I came across many. Some were more promoted than others, each with their individual signature. Some caught my attention, but I must say Aquasella made the top of the list for me. Although I was not able to attend last year, I began to collect information about this festival, which every time I mentioned, techno connoisseurs declared it to be the best festival in Spain to attend to during the summer.
Here are a few reasons why this four-day festival is definitely worth it:
- The Talent
The killer line-up will leave you nothing to be desired. You can enjoy a beautifully curated festival. Going for the harsh sounds of the bass that DJs such as Paula Temple, Rødhad, Tiga, and I Hate Models bring, to the acid musicality of Nina Kraviz, a little bit of groove with KiNK, and lighter, more airy melodies that talent like Âme and Sven Väth propose; all coming together to create the perfect musical platter. This line-up proovides the variety and A-level a music lover deserves to enjoy at a festival.
- The Location
Certain regions of Spain can get real hot, real fast, during the summer. This presents itself as an inconvenience for many festivals that take place during the month of August, since most provide a camping option, making it harsh to sleep in tents due to the hotness. The beauty of Aquasella taking place in Arriondas Cangas de Onis, Asturias, is that during the day you can enjoy the hotness of the summer and during the night, you can camp with freshness that feels like spring weather. Being next to a river, you can also enjoy a nice dip in the water to refresh yourself as you enjoy the sound of electronic music calling you back to the festival. Aquasella provides the best of both worlds: killer music and beautiful nature.
- The Vibe
Have you ever been to a party where, no matter the music, the matter the location, you had an incredible time because the vibe and the people made it just the best? Well, this is what those who have recommended me Aquasella have all said, except in this case, the music is indeed incredible, and the location is mouth-opening. Those who have had the luck to live the Aquasella experience, all agree in that it is some of the best experiences they have ever had, because all of who attend are there for the same reasons: their love for electronic music and their wants to have a blast. It has also been recommended to me to stay in the camp, since there is where friendships are made and the real union of the Aquasella community is formed.
I cannot personally acclaim for this festival since this year will hopefully be my first time attending, and then I’ll be able to give you the detailed inside scoop, but the dozens of positive recommendations I’ve heard have made me more than 100% sure I want to live this experience, and I hope this will encourage you to do so as well!
