STARZ’S Powerbook II: Ghost returned today to kick off their second half of the second season. We last saw Tariq St. Patrick being taken away in handcuffs and today, he is out on bail.
With the helping hands of Cooper Saxe and Davis MacLean, Tariq did not have to suffer the same horror situation like when his father Ghost was jailed. But the short appearance of Kanan as he was in Tariq’s head solidified the fact that Tariq has to figure this situation out on his own. This is for now until the prosecutors plan their next attack on the case. I really liked the court scene involving all the characters. But that was not the main spotlight of the episode. That goes to Lorenzo.
Lorenzo is home and he is convinced that things will be the same. He was behind bars for ten years so I could not blame him for thinking that way. He soon finds out that Cane is not willing to work with him, his daughter not willing to go to the same college he suggested, and that his wife Monet is not too thrilled about his return. All of the family affair drama is something to look out for in the coming episodes.
Back to Tariq, He and Brayden had an argument. I will give my high praise to Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo for their acting on this explosive scene. I felt that these two actors brought out the best in each other during the heated debate that was worth watching. It is easily one of the best scenes of the season so far. Taking that into account, and adding Tariq’s burning of Ghost’s letter, we have a terrific hour of television.
The plot of Powerbook II: Ghost continues to pick up very quickly after today. I am so excited to see what happens next!
