Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 Preview

Power Book II: Ghost is back to kick of its third season. After a long wait, fans of the series are in for a thrill of unexpected twists.

I saw the first three episodes in advance for this preview. I will not spoil too much major plot points as you should experience them for yourselves.

First, I have to praise the acting. Michael Rainey Jr., Alix Lapri, Mary J. Blige, Woody McClain, and the rest of the cast pulled off very believable performances that kept me more engaged than the previous seasons. I know that it took a while to lay the groundwork of these stories since it is directly after the original show’s conclusion. Now it feels like a totally different show as Power Book II: Ghost has moved way beyond the past of James St. Patrick as every character has their own arc.

Speaking of the story, the central theme of this season is betrayal and trust. You will see this for the first few episodes of the season as Tariq, Davis, Monet, Effie, Cain, and even Brayden are having trust issues among each other. Also to note, there are new characters introduced at the start of episode one that has a connection to Mecca. There is a slight time jump as well, but it does not detract from the finale’s cliffhanger as the police are building up a R.I.C.O case on everyone involved in Mecca’s death.

Another thing to note, is that you will see characters go beyond their limits to get things done without any hesitation compared to earlier seasons of Power Book II: Ghost. With that set in motion, there are jaw dropping moments that will happen from characters you did not expect to be in those situations. And finally, we will finally have the status of Lauren early on this season. I will not spoil it, but it goes to a territory that you will not see coming.

All in all, Power Book II: Ghost’s third season begins with a strong and suspenseful story to grab your attention to care for the overall plot. It is extra epic and must see television on STARZ.
