Point Foundation Hosts Gala in Support of LGBTQ+ Community

The Beverly Hills Hotel hosted more than four hundred guests this past weekend for the Point Foundation Point Gala.

The Point Foundation works to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students both academically and socially. At the gala, the Point Foundation presents several awards to celebrities whose support of the LGBTQ community is distinguished and unwavering.

Wanda Sykes, CEO of the Point Foundation Jorge Valencia, and Anthony Anderson.

Anthony Anderson, star of ABC’s show Black-ish, awarded the Point Legend Award to Wanda Sykes, intended for successful professionals that “unapologetically” support the LGBTQ+ community. Jill Soloway, Emmy-award winning writer and nonbinary, gender non-conforming celebrity, was given the Impact Award for the work Soloway has done to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ community members. Kathryn Hahn, actress and longtime friend of Soloway, presented the award. The Point Courage Award, given to advocates of the future of the LGBTQ+ community, was given via video message to actor Wilson Cruz.

Adam Lambert performs with a live band.

The gala, hosted by comedian Michelle Collins, was no doubt a star-studded event with a performance by Adam Lambert. Guests included Tyler Alvarez, Hayden Byerly, Jay Duplass, Judith Light, Trace Lysette, Benjamin Patterson, Brandon Stansell, Jacob Tobia, JJ Totah, Rain Valdez, and former award recipients Neal Baer, Greg Louganis, Pete Nowalk, and Adam Shankman.
