Michael Maccari painted a vibrant seaside picture for his audience at the Spring/Summer 2016 runway show for Perry Ellis.
Inspired by the intricate relationship between the earth and its inhabitants, Maccari explored humanity and its surroundings by integrating both hard and soft elements into the collection. “Harsh layering, clean lines, and raised stitching” were some of the defining details in this juxtaposed duality.
The most common look throughout the collection was a tee shirt and trousers paired with an unbuttoned shirt layered with either a blazer or jacket on top. According to Maccari, his choice of silhouette and styling comes from men going to and from the gym.
While the silhouettes were still fitted, they were far more on the relaxed side, as proof the shrinking suit is continuing to fade away.
In terms of color, every shade of blue was incorporated to fit his beach theme, and hints of earth tones featuring burnt ochre, brown, mustard, infused a calmer mood among iridescent suits and all-over prints.
