Contemporary art meets bathing suits just in time for the spring/summer season. French/American designer, Cecile Casablancas, is starting a whole new line called Orient NY to create one-piece swimwear in collaboration with contemporary artists.
Casablancas started a hub for artists to showcase their original work as prints on swimwear that is made in the U.S. The brand launched in 2016 after a day at sea on North Folk beaches in Long Island. This limited edition swimwear line is truly unique and something both artists and designers alike will appreciate.
The four artists Caitlin Keogh, Servane Mary, Jim Drain and Bozidar Brazda bring their talents together to create a beautiful and wearable work of art that will make all your fellow art friends swoon.
Keogh’s pieces are found in The Whitney Museum with her dark romantic themes and Mary represents identity and history as her design is a beautiful black and white cactus on a sleeveless swimsuit that looks like something out of a 1950’s fashion magazine. As for the other artist, Drain gives you the explicit image of a penis, that you can pridefully wear on your swimsuit. His art can be seen at the MoMa, with more psychedelic patterns to match. The final artist, Brazda, has had his pieces featured in W, Interview Magazine and even Vogue.
