The Knockturnal recently caught up with all of your fan favorites from the One Chicago franchise, including Jesse Spencer, Kara Killmer, Taylor Kinney, and Miranda Rae Mayo from Chicago Fire, S. Epatha Merkerson, Nick Gehlfuss, and Brian Tee from Chicago Med, and LaRoyce Hawkins and Patrick Flueger from Chicago P.D.
All of the Chicago shows have had their fair share of addressing many issues our nation is currently facing. Chicago P.D.’s LaRoyce Hawkins (Kevin Atwater) spoke to us about how the writers approached police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement. “The truth is what’s most important. The truth is what we committed to as a team, cast, and crew,” said Hawkins.
“What I dislike when I watch storytelling on TV and film is when they try, but they only hit the surface and don’t dig as deep as they probably could to pull as much of the truth out.”
Actress S. Epatha Merkerson, who plays Sharon Goodwin, of Chicago Med, elaborated on how important it is to tell real stories of people her age dealing with underlying illnesses in the age of COVID.
“You see the world as it is with a little heightened drama. It’s important that people see someone of my age with co-morbidities on zoom because that’s how they’re living their lives. For me, I appreciate that production looked ahead and prepared me for that.”
Check out what the rest of the cast had to say about what fans can expect from some upcoming storylines.
