New York, NY – June 8, 2023 – “Downtown Owl,”  directed by Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.

Transporting viewers to the winter of 1984 in Owl, North Dakota, “Downtown Owl” showcases the struggles faced by the townsfolk as they brace themselves for an unprecedented snowstorm. Against this backdrop, the film weaves together the lives of three extraordinary individuals: Horace, a nostalgic football enthusiast played by the incomparable Ed Harris; Julia, a newbie teacher portrayed by the talented Lily Rabe herself; and Mitch, a depressed quarterback brought to life by the captivating August Blanco Rosenstein.

Rabe and Linklater’s directorial debut, adapted from Chuck Klosterman’s acclaimed 2008 novel, skillfully captures the anxieties and isolation of Reagan-era Middle America while offering a glimpse of hope for a brighter future. The exceptional ensemble cast, featuring luminaries such as Jack Dylan Grazer, Vanessa Hudgens, Arianna Jaffer, and Hamish Linklater, adds depth and charm to this unlikely crowd-pleaser.

“Downtown Owl” invites audiences to embrace the unexpected connections that can shape our lives. The film serves as a reminder that sometimes, the people we need most are the ones we least expect.
Stay tuned for the official release of “Downtown Owl,” a heartfelt tribute to small-town resilience and the enduring power of human connection.
